Single and multilayer membranes, with fibre glass mating as inner reinforcement to reach high dimensional strength required to endure any severe weather condition. Fleece bonding for support, surface embossing and aesthetic finishing.
BASIC STRUCTURES
Sheets with inner reinforcement needs two layers at least, but 3 or 4-layer sheets are becoming the rising demand of the market for multilayer membranes, offering higher performances at affordable costs.
The co-extrusion technology allows now the production of membranes with a thin skin layer (15-20% of the whole thickness) using expensive materials giving high performance, in which the required additives are concentrated to assure durable and reliable
service over long life.
An efficient cost saving is achieved using co-extrusion technology for the production of high performance membranes. Furthermore, if membranes are used as proofing barriers in tunnel construction, a “warning” ply of light colour is expressly required as “signal layer”, to be different from base ply.
The choice of inner reinforcement depends on the application. If high dimensional strength is required, the fibre glass mat assures a shrinkage value lower than 0,5% whereas the woven scrim reinforcement makes the membranes more flexible.
Thermoplastic membranes, offering design flexibility, energy efficiency and high performance, even under extreme temperature and weather condition, are now representing one of the solutions preferred by architects to be used for roofing, also in case of complex roofing lines or multiple roof penetrations. In addition, thermoplastic reinforced membranes for roofing systems will assure reliable service for decades, easy cleaning and repair in
case damage – cut or leakage – should occur.
